Ego Eater is a Facebook app for online dating. Users rate other users based on how attractive they find them. Super attractive people will be matched with super attractive people. Average attractive people will be matched with other average attractive people. The users ranking of attractiveness is used. The user may be super attractive in the punk sub user group. So, the user will be matched with other highly attractive punk users. The main point is to steer people to date "within their league" rather than waste a lot of time chasing unavailable people.
During login, personal data is collected from the Facebook profile. The access is controlled through the Facebook graph API. Thus, the user is in complete control what the app can access. The data is used to pre-populated basic online dating profile information, like name, gender, age, and profile photo.
User's probably want to date people in physical proximity. The app checks periodically the GPS location of the phone to match with nearby users.
Users rank other user's based on attractiveness. Users send messages to other user users. All this information is gathered in the cloud to facilitate the matching process.
When sending messages through the system, standard security measures are taken. However, the grade of security is not for financial information or equally critical information. The data is not encrypted in the data store. Users should not enter social security numbers, passwords, and the like. Not only is the system not built for that. Also, user's shouldn't hand out that kind of information to strangers on the internet.
The app will use Google Analytics to analyze user behavior in the app and to make improvements.
The app is under development. The developer will review data in the data store to understand what's going on in the app for trouble shooting, finding bugs, fixing corrupt data, understanding user behavior, and other reasons. Again, the system is not built to protect highly confidential information. Neither should you volunteer such information to a stranger on the Internet. Meet them in person and share such information through appropriate channels once you have a relationship with them. If in the course of developing the app, I run across information that indicates that you are intent on hurting others or yourself, I may report this to authorities. Please, be kind to other people and yourself.
We may use scripts, manual access, or user reporting to detect fake profiles, commercial soliciting, or other inappropriate activities on the site to ban those users.
The information that other users see of you will be similar to that of other dating sites. Here are examples of how we obscure some personal information:
The app uses Facebook login to verify the potential users. User under age 18 are not allowed to proceed into the application.
